It's been over two years since COVID-19 hit the world.

Two ... very, very long years waiting for things to go back to 'normal'.

This year, it seems like many countries have decided that living with covid is the new normal. Borders are finally beginning to open, and restrictions are easing.  No more long quarantines, or excessive testing.

So, I'm getting ready to travel again.

See some new places.   Experience new cultures.   Eat new foods.  Meet new friends. Reunite with old friends.

I'm curious to see how travelling will be post-covid.  Will it be more or less the same as before?  How have things changed?  How have people changed? How have I changed?

I'm super anxious, but also excited about travelling again.

This blog will document my experiences travelling in this post-covid world. Hopefully, it will become a useful resource for other travellers out there as well.

If you're interested, below is a quick recap of my last couple of years...

The last couple of years

I was in New Zealand travelling/working when the pandemic first started in early 2020. Originally, I had planned to leave NZ around October 2020.  This virus couldn't still be around then, right? RIGHT??

Wrong.  Countries shut down, and there was nowhere to go.  NZ was safe, so I decided to stick around longer.  I thought maybe I would leave NZ in early 2021.  Then, maybe late 2021 .  Now it's June 2022, and I'm still here. 🙃

I was very fortunate to be 'stuck' in a nice country like New Zealand.  It was one of the least affected places in the world (at least in the beginning).  We had a couple of short lockdowns (Auckland had a really long lockdown), but things were pretty much normal here for the most part.  The only thing really off was that there were no foreign tourists.

Well, now it's finally time to leave.  I could've actually left a bit earlier, but I wanted to see if more countries would open first.  And, they are.

Let the adventures begin! ✈
